A little bird by Mimi (9)

I have a dear friend with two daughters. Her youngest, Mimi, painted a picture at my home recently. I thought I'd introduce her to the fun of a Photo draw program. She loved it. Here is her beautiful cardinal. She painted it for her grandmother who lives in Ma.

Here you are, Mim's! I think it's beautiful, just like you!

I haven't been doing any art work, due to some other pressing needs, so I hoped this pretty piece of art from Mimi will brighten my site for now.

Grace

This little painting was inspired by some photos of one of my dear friend's daughters( (she has five lovely daughters).

The way that cat is enjoying his neck rub, is really cute.

childhood watercoloring...

I remembered that I had this old watercolor picture of birds at my mother's house. My dad came to visit me for lunch recently and brought the old picture by (I asked him for it). I had to laugh! Seems as though I have always loved: birds, the color blue, and watercolors...
I actually remember painting this...it brought back some pleasant memories!
Hope you are all had a peaceful week and that your weekend is full of creativity!

Guess nothing ever really changes that much!

Ever try to feed just ONE seagul at the beach?!

This is a little piece I started working on...I've colored it a few times in different shades. Recently I bought some beautiful indigo water color paint, in a tube...very expensive, but the color is really pretty. I thought I'd do a few little paintings all in indigo... we'll see.
The last challenge I gave myself, to draw or paint up an ocean themed picture each day for the month of March, has been a difficult thing to stay on top of!

The last family photo; Our wedding day

Here I am, a few years ago, with my honey. I love this photo just because, we were so young and it was really a wonderful day!

What to do now?

I added some text, a portion of scripture from psalms, very pretty....now what? I don't really like how it looks...it needs something. ARRGH!

Connor

Here is where it all began, motherhood I mean. I was just 20 and still in college. My parents were not thrilled...but once he was here, we all just fell in love. He's 23 now!
I love this shot for a lot of reasons, but the face is dear to me, and the hands on the screen are beautiful!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend. And I hope this week is even better.

Erik

Little dancing body...full of energy and silly comments. This is my second born, a photo taken...too many years ago. My oldest son is sure, Erik came into the world just to entertain

everyone.

He is now 20. Man-O-man am I getting long in the tooth!

And, hey, he's at the beach...so that counts as an ocean themed "piece of art" for the month of March...

Yes, I know, I am grasping here...getting low on ocean themed ideas! But, I do hope you like these pictures and my indulgence in old memories.

something bigger I am working on

I'm trying out a new, bigger painting. It is a mix of acrylics, and pastels. Actually, I am thinking of sticking some little papers on it with words...so I guess it's just a mess of stuff! . I stretched a piece of canvas on an old window frame. I sewed the edges of the canvas and put a few eyelets in the extreem corners. I put old nails into the window frame and hooked the canvas onto the frame. I kind of like how it looks.

This little darling was the first of my "second batch" of sons. I love these old photos, especially the striped pajamas! Those pj's remind me of the cute little paintings done at Gumball Grenade! Have you seen her work? So adorable!

I cannot resist putting a shot on here with little baby feet...those are good for munching...then...

not now (he's thirteen):?

Nate

This is a little enhanced photo of my youngest son, taken 9 years ago...I love the way he is contemplating his toes... I miss the softness and scent of the top of this tiny baby head ...

(a thing I might not want to smell now!) Har!

I just thought I'd share a little photo of my boys starting from the youngest and moving up to the oldest.

Not that I was too lazy to draw or paint anything... :?

Little boat from RI

It would be hard to determine just how many days I spent at the beach or near the ocean, listening to the sound that only the ocean can make. I spent some afternoons sailing on it, with friends who were fortunate enough to have sailing boats, of varying sizes... What wonderful memories! I made this little painting years ago, the actual size is only 1.5 x 1.5. It was made for my mother who was in this seniors tennis tournament, and she wanted them to have sachets and pins with the teams name on them. So this was the rough painting for those items...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Here she is, playing with that same crab. I think he's about had enough and is going for a swim! Ever get your finger pinched by a crab, even one of the little ones?
Wow, it hurts! I used to go to a summer camp as a child in RI, and we would spend hours combing the rocks and tide pools for crabs. We would turn over rocks and catch them as they tried to scurry away...
Occasionally we would catch one and it would get a hold of a finger and pinch hard!
Yipes!
I hope you have a Happy St. Patrick's Day. (The green hat is my tribute to the Day O' Green)

The Pressure!!!

Earlier, I challenged myself to make a little ocean themed drawing or painting each day of March!!! What a nut! Most of what I've been coming up with makes me unhappy! :/ I do not create well under pressure!
I did draw up another "little girly with a crab" painting. I just changed up her dress a bit, but I don't know if I like it. Maybe I will tweak it and publish it tomorrow.

Anyway, I was lying awake last night (thanks menopause) and I was thinking of nursery rhymes...I'm not sure why...hormone malfunctioning perhaps? As I was pondering that particular..."The cow jumped over the moon..." bit, I thought,
"What about the whale jumped over the moon?"

Well...he's jumping...enjoy!

Oh, to be at the beach in the summer.....

I decided maybe that little drawing of the girl looking at the crab needed to be painted...she needed some color in her life...don't we all?
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Well, I told myself that I wouldn't spend hours perusing the web, getting lost in all your fine art and beautiful inspirational work...but, I did. My house is...well, in need of attention. So in spite of promising I would draw or paint up a little something from the ocean each day, last night I went to bed instead! Did I read? Did I play with the kids? Nope, I watched two hours of mindless TV...arrgh!!!

I'm going to clean, wash, fold and wipe and if I have a moment left...paint! Here's an old scribble from a few years ago...it's cheating...I know...but here it is! :O

Good Morning! I did a little fishy drawing...It's...ok... not as bright and happy as I imagined it.
It's cold this morning but sunny... and that always helps! Hope you have a sunny day where ever you are!

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Since I seem to be missing the ocean so much...I thought I'd try to paint up an ocean themed silly each day of March...maybe it will make me happy...

Hmmm...my roots are showing, and it's almost time for my hair appointment...perhaps this color would suit me?! :O

It snowed all day yesterday, but it only just coated all the wet earth with a frosting...very typical spring weather. My daffodils are pushing through the dirt and I cannot wait to see them bloom! It smells all earthy and fresh outside and there is this bright red cardinal is singing away in and around my garden today! The earth is all spongy and soggy with all the melted snow from the past months.

Here is a little robin I painted up yesterday... to celebrate the coming Spring.

One of my dearest friends teased me that I should cut out a party hat from my previous posts and put it on one of my birdy drawings.....well she should know better than to tease me with such a cute idea!!! So, Sheryl, aka Aida....How about a crow with a crown? :o !!!

Good morning! It is so warm today! it must be in the 30's. It looks like it might rain, and that makes me so happy!!!! Anything but more snow!
Here's a little frog that I drew years ago. I colored him up yesterday during my lunch. I think my body is looking a bit like this fellows after this long cold winter....Yipes!

I made a little drawing of a whale. I colored it with pastels and played around with it on the computer. Hope you have a terrific day!

Goodmorning! Today I am feeling a little blue. My poor husband is healing and has such a great attitude...but it's a long road and last night he was in such pain ... it's hard to watch.
I have a prayer group that meets every Wednesday and I'm going . If any of you need some prayer just let me know. We have met for over nine years and have had so many amazing things happen.
As for today's picture:
Yesterday I was playing around with some little ink series of drawings I did along time ago and started to color them in...I am working still on the "party hats".
Hope you have a blessed day...
O you who hear prayer, to you all men will come. Psalm 65:2

This is one of the altered images. I love how the program made the back ground look like it's raining.

Drew a little chickadee. He came out so cute. I colored him with pastels and scanned him into my computer. I added some detail and then modified the drawing. I just love how he came out!

After painting up the little bird, I scanned him into my computer and played around with PhotoDraw. I used
some altered images I made. I love this feature of PhotoDraw.

Yesterday evening my husband and I went to the mall to walk around. He is recovering from a broken neck...(long story) I purchased a book by the National Audubon Society called the Bird Feeders Handbook! I love song birds! I did a little drawing which I'm going to color up with some watercolors. Do you like birds? One of my favorite blogs to watch is http://www.geninne.com/! This woman is a painting, crafting, homeschooling wonder!!! She is amazing! I've been inspired to paint more....Blessings!

Today is the first day of March! Wish it were warmer...but the sun is shining and the light is gorgeous! I did a little fraktur drawing and spent the afternoon at the mountain coloring my picture. I used some water colors. It was way too cold for me to go skiing so I occupied a chair in a sunny spot in the lodge. This is my kind of work out! Hope you have a beautiful week!
